 What we do…

This institution attempts to accomplish its goal through a few different things…

First, we greatly value the power that information holds. It holds immense importance that the information we utilize is credible and unbiased. For this reason, we have a research department dedicated to thoroughly investigating each and every topic of conversation that we bring up.

Third, we believe that every voice is equally important, and has a right to be heard in equal parts. So, if you entrust us with your stories, we assure you that they will be handled with respect. Your voices are of utmost importance to us, and we are passionate about making sure your uniquely individual stories are heard. To achieve this, our organization will always be open to listening to your voices, and telling the stories you want heard.

We attack topics that are stigmatized or deemed too controversial. Too often these issues are swept under the rug, being labeled as “polarizing” or “vulgar”. However, we find that empowerment for all people blossoms through knowledge and awareness. Our organization seeks to combat ignorance, stereotyping, and gender roles.

How we do it…

Second, we have a well-appointed staff of writers and editors. We not only understand the power of stories, but also that of storytelling. Every subject that is approached will be dealt with in an accountable manner. We understand the power of our words and their ability to do harm or good in equal parts; so we will responsibly depict situations as they are, without spinning the truth for our benefit.

The powers or the lack thereof….

Sometimes, for viewpoints to evolve for the better, our minds need a catalyst. Storytelling is one of the greatest catalysts. It is a power beyond imaginable. It expresses our beliefs, our values, through a lens that is not only entertaining, but relatable. Stories are what connect two people from opposite ends of the planet. Stories are what make us wholly human, and not just living and breathing creatures. Stories are the fine line we, as humans, walk between living and being alive.

Men, women, and everyone else are equal, and should be considered as such. Women are not given nearly as much power as men. This is a result of dangerous stereotypes and biases. People usually look at someone, and without even trying to get to know them, place them in a category. This gives us, as women, people of color, people belonging to the LGBTQIA+ community, less power when choosing the kind of person we want to be, as we all simply want to fit the societal norms, be on the top of the bell curve. However, when we look at ourselves from the top of the curve, we find ourselves restricted in a society that pretends to appreciate the unique, but only ever accepts the mediocre.

We believe in the power of perspective. Opinions and viewpoints vary, but we believe that they hold great power in our lives. Sometimes, when we look a little closer, we find that our own perspective is flawed. Perspective is something that goes much deeper than the surface. It roots from biases, from past experiences, good and bad. However, when we learn to look at the world for what it is. For what it is at face value, or for what it is deeper than that, under all of the cruelty, we can see beauty. Beauty in art, in culture, in color, in unity, in equality.

The world is a place full of power. The power to create, to view, to express, and the list goes on. There is, however, an imbalance of power in the world. It exists between the colors of skin, the minds under them, and the things our minds have no control over. This imbalance is unfair, and leads to extremely cruel acts. One of the many ways to overcome this imbalance is through knowledge and awareness.
